Informatics CIS places
innovation at the heart of its ethos. Working in partnership
with academic or other research organisations has led to
exciting and high-value product developments.
Our approach is to embrace emerging technologies,
thinking and research. We believe that this keeps the
functionality of our products at the leading-edge in the
sector, and deepens our understanding of our customers
and colleagues in healthcare provision and research.
We have enjoyed long and successful research
partnerships with teaching hospitals, universities and
other domain experts throughout Europe and the USA, resulting
in innovations such as the
intelligence now incorporated
within Synopsis IQ, our preoperative assessment

Projects 2007:
Knowledge Transfer Partnership: University of Manchester,
UK
Informatics is partnering Manchester University
Department of Computer Science in developing a new generation
of intelligent software for healthcare. The project uses
formal ontologies and inference engines to represent and
exploit clinical knowledge in specific domains.
The technology also supports flexible
design of user interfaces. Manchester University is an
acknowledged leader in the field of medical ontologies
and the project runs under the Knowledge Transfer Partnerships
(KTP) scheme sponsored by the UK Government.
